A couple of items to pass along (incase you missed it):
-What a few of us had pretty much known since the rookie camp last summer and kept watch over since Thursday night finally came to fruition late this morning: another Zajac has arrived. Kelly Zajac (third brother behind Travis and Darcy) was signed to an amateur tryout agreement and may see some action over the weekend. He just completed his senior season at Union College, serving as an assistant captain and contributing 42 points (including a school record 34 assists) as the Dutchmen made it to the Frozen Four for the first time in school history before bowing out against Ferris State in the NCAA semifinals. He also was named the ECAC’s Best Defensive Forward and made all conference 3rd team. Oldest brother Travis gives a pretty good scouting report here.
-Just announced by the AHL, Tim Sestito was given a 1 game suspension after receiving a boarding penalty late in the game against Adirondack on Friday night. He will have to sit out Friday night’s game against Norfolk and its epic winning streak. (Side note: after reading the AHL press release, I’ve come to the conclusion that I was at the wrong game on Saturday.)
-Forward Bryan Haczyk was officially reassigned to Kalamazoo yesterday afternoon, after only appearing in one game (on March 24th in Norfolk) since being recalled back in March. He will rejoin the K-Wings as they begin their second round of playoffs against South Carolina later this week.
(Note: When this entry went out originally, I had the wrong day down for Sestito’s suspension. I figured it was for Saturday’s charging/game misconduct instead of the penalty from Friday night. Correction made.)
