Saturday Notes…

A few things to share…

-Catching up from the other day, the Devils picked up another amateur tryout, 2011 draft pick Reid Boucher. He just completed his first season with Sarnia of the OHL, putting up 50 points (28 G, 22 A) and an additional 3 points in 6 playoff games. He did not get into the lineup last night, but I would expect him to make an appearance before the weekend is out.

-Goaltender Maxime Clermont has rejoined the team after an apparent injury to Keith Kinkaid during last night’s loss to Norfolk. It’s his first callup since mid October, filling in while Kinkaid was on recall to New Jersey. He did make one start, on October 23rd in Providence, earning a 3-2 overtime win. He had been backing up in Kalamazoo (currently in a second round playoff series against South Carolina), netting 13 wins in 31 appearances with a 3.42 GAA.

-Now obviously there is no chance for a playoff berth, but let’s figure out what kind of position the Devils could finish in tomorrow evening. As of now, they stand in last place in the division and 14th place in the conference with 71 points. The good news is they cannot drop any lower, as Binghamton sits in 15th with 64 points and 1 game left to play. Division wise, they clinched the basement, as Springfield has 76 points with 1 game to play. The highest possible finish they could have is 12th, but that depends on how Worcester and Providence (tonight’s opponent) do in their last 2 games. At least it’s a small improvement from last season.
