An extra entry on a game day? Yeah, sometimes it happens.
But I have some free time this morning, so how about getting up to speed on things since Sunday afternoon?
While at the Bowlathon, there was one player who surprisingly was there, and one who was absent. The one there? Scott Timmins, who was actually participating in the event. He’s very close to returning, about another week or so. And it’s a good thing, because the one absent Devil was Tim Sestito, who was recalled to New Jersey after Ryan Carter got injured Saturday night at home against Buffalo. He played on the fourth line Monday night in Montreal with Cam Janssen and Jacob Josefson, and was nearly taken out by the skate of Brandon Prust during the first period. But of course, he’s a Sestito, he got right back in it.
With Sestito on recall, that left Albany with just 11 forwards going into tonight. But there may be help on the way, as Elmira announced yesterday that Artem Demkov, who participated in the Devils training camp, was called up. He leads the Jackals with 10 goals and 2 assists in 17 games.
BREAKING: Actually two pieces of breaking news just across:
-Ryan Carter was placed on IR, and Reid Boucher was recalled to New Jersey. It looks like he will be making his NHL debut at home tonight against the Canadiens. Please don’t let anything happen to him, please don’t let anything happen to him…
-Stefan Matteau, along with 2013 draft pick Steve Santini, were named to the preliminary USA World Juniors training camp roster. Camp will take place in Minnesota from December 15-18th, with the final cut to be announced just before Christmas. Damon Severson, who played in 3 games for the Devils at the end of last season, will be in Canada’s training camp.
