Latest News/Notes:
The Comets have won 8 of their last 10, and sit just .006 behind St. John’s for the fourth North playoff spot; this is the start of a 3 in 3 road swing for Utica, who head to Syracuse on Saturday then Wilkes-Barre on Sunday; the Comets recently picked up forwards Max French (Bentley) and Brett McKenzie (North Bay/OHL) on amateur tryout deals; Ryan Kujawinski, Ben Sexton, and Josh Jacobs are all out this weekend due to injury; Nick Lappin was sent down by New Jersey early Friday afternoon.
Friday morning, the Devils announced the signing of Boston College forward Austin Cangelosi to a 2 year AHL deal beginning this season. No relation to the Devils TV announcer, Cangelosi had 21 goals and 14 assists in 39 games for the Eagles in his senior season. He was an invitee to New Jersey’s development camp last summer and is a teammate of 2014 draft pick JD Dudek (and former teammates with Steve Santini and Miles Wood).
